The Grand Theatre in Greenfield is hosting Free Summer Movie Days throughout July, offering family-friendly matinees at 2:00 PM. The schedule includes "Minecraft" on Tuesday, July 1st, "The Goonies" on Friday, July 18th, and "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" (1971 original) on Thursday, July 24th, all with free admission thanks to the Greater Greenfield Community Foundation. Two wrestling camps are coming to Nodaway Valley High School this week, giving students in grades 1–12 a chance to train with standout collegiate athletes and state champs. Camps run July 2 and 3 from 10 AM to 2 PM, with hands-on instruction, live wrestling, and Q&A—$30 per camp with discounts for attending both.
The Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department Foundation is raffling off a 2025 Polaris Ranger XP1000 Premium, with the winner to be drawn on October 11. You do not need to be present to win. Tonight and this weekend:
Nodaway Valley baseball and softball teams take on Wayne at home tonight. JV games begin at 5:30 PM, followed by varsity softball at 7:00 PM and baseball at 7:30 PM.
The Grand Theatre is showing the movie Karate Kid Legend through Sunday, June 29th, with evening shows at 7 PM on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, a Saturday Special Needs Movie at 4 PM, and a Sunday Matinee at 2 PM, with doors opening one hour before the start of each movie.
Saturday, June 28 is the Tom Anderson Memorial Big Cup Golf Tournament at the Greenfield Golf & Country Club.
Head to Lake Greenfield tomorrow from 4–7 p.m. Enjoy grilled food and yard games in a relaxed lakeside setting; just bring a chair and a friend, no RSVP necessary.
"Light Up the Lake" will take place at Mormon Trail from 8 PM to 10 PM tomorrow night, featuring a glow paddle and boat races starting at 8:30 PM, with a prize for the best decorated watercraft.
Southwest Iowa's own, Jason Erickson Reed, will play at Bloodline Irish Pub from 8:00 to 11:00 PM on Saturday - he's always great, check it out!
Greenfield United Methodist invites you to join for Church in the Park, the service begins at 10 AM at Greenfield City Park (corner of NE Grant and NE 2nd), offering music, discussion, prayer, scripture, and worship for all ages, followed by a free lunch of burgers, chips, dessert, and drink at 11 AM; attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and a friend.
On Sunday, Art in the Park will be held at the North Shelter House at Mormon Trail, offering a family-friendly crafting event where participants can paint wooden cookie masterpieces or make wild animal masks.
The Upcoming Good News Concert this Sunday, June 29 will feature Doc McCauley, Trent Buckner, and Gary Freeland at The Gathering Place at 5 PM, it will be a great show.
The week ahead, June 30-July 4:
A free running camp for 5th-12th graders, covering running basics, stretching, nutrition, safety tips, core work, dynamic drills, speed development, mid to long distances, and running games. It runs from June 30th to July 2nd, 9 AM - 11 AM daily, at O-M School in Orient.
Crafternoons take place on Mondays from 2:00-3:00 PM at Greenfield Public Library from June 2nd to July 14th.
The Wolverines hit the road on Monday, vs. MTSM at Martensdale-St Marys.Softball JV plays at 5:30 PM, Varsity at 7:00 PM. Baseball: JV plays at 5:30 PM, Varsity at 7:30 PM.
Nodaway Valley Wolverines are in action on Tuesday at Central Decatur. Varsity softball plays at 5:30 PM and baseball at 5:00 PM at Central Decatur.
Youth Theater Camp deadline is Monday. "The School for Spies," an original musical adventure presented by Footlitters Traveling Playhouse for aspiring performers ages 7-18. Camp will be held daily from July 21st to July 25th, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Warren Cultural Center. Public performance on Friday, July 25th, at 6:30 PM (admission is free with a freewill donation). Registration is required by Monday, June 30th. The Fontanelle Public Library’s new Book Club kicks off Tuesday, July 1 at 2:30 PM, offering a monthly gathering to discuss books, build connections, and explore new authors in a fun, welcoming setting.
This summer Family Game Afternoon will take place on Tuesdays from 4:00–5:00 PM at Greenfield Public Library.
On Tuesday, July 1, the Wolverines hit the road to face Southeast Warren, with JV baseball at 5:30 PM, varsity baseball at 7:00 PM, and varsity softball at 7:15 PM.
