Recovery Update

AUGUST 15TH RECOVERY UPDATE:

Greenfield and the surrounding area have a full slate of events this weekend. On Saturday, the Nodaway Valley Football team hosts its Saturday Night Lights practice from 7:00–8:30 p.m. at the NV High School Football Stadium, inviting the community to watch the 2025 Wolverines in action under the lights - come out and support the team! Also on Saturday, the Rustic Tap has Karaoke with Shelly from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. On Sunday, August 17, Green Tree Homesteading will lead an Intro to DIY Solar workshop from 3:00–6:00 p.m. at the Greenfield Mercantile (226 Public Square), teaching attendees how to build their own home solar system. All weekend, the Grand Theatre continues its run of Disney’s Freaky Friday. 

The Iowa Aviation Museum will host its 32nd Annual Wings Fly-In/Drive-In & Hall of Fame Induction next Saturday, August 23, at the Greenfield Municipal Airport. From 7:30–10:30 a.m., enjoy a pancake breakfast served by the Fontanelle Lions Club, with free meals for pilots in command and preschoolers; breakfast includes museum admission. Afterward, stay for the Hall of Fame ceremony and explore exhibits celebrating Iowa’s aviation history.

Greenfield residents are invited to a Community Visioning Open House on Monday, September 8, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Hotel Greenfield. This drop-in event will showcase proposed concepts for future improvements throughout town, including trails, parks, sidewalks, traffic control, and accessibility. Attendees will have the chance to review the ideas — developed from earlier community input, including the recent Farmers Market engagement session — and share feedback before plans are finalized. Whether this is your first time participating or you’ve been following the process from the start, your perspective is valued. Help shape a final design that reflects what matters most to Greenfield. Text reminders will be sent as the date approaches.
